By June First it was the worst:
Love congealed and with it
all my hopes.
Yes, there were the dopes,
the usual dopes,
lawyers, bankers, and other
reality types.
They did their best
to bring me down—
“Straighten up, Fly right—
Take your medicine or
get out of town.”
I did.
But I fooled ‘em
‘cuz I came back
to give them all the sack.
There’ll be lots of fallen lumber,
wooden soldiers who
play at life,
self righteous hypocrites and other
self serving shhh...its.
And then there are the do gooders
who give to get,
yet none of them have truly
given yet.
But now they’ll have to get it—
the chance to give some love.
‘Cuz I’m tellin’ you boys and girls,
before you leave this world,
you better learn the
Meaning of life.
And it ain’t that three-piece suit
you wear to earn that 2 bit loot—
- Money -
Money ain’t nothing honey,
nothing at all.
And you’ll be appalled
that you really can’t
take it with you, son…
….and that’s no fun…
Forget the pearls girls,
‘cuz they’ll stay in this world.
So what is left?...
Of this thing called life
that you can take into the next one?…
Listen up,
You people.
Pay attention to
The Steeple…
and what it stands for
… Not the ministers
sometimes sinister
In their contriving goodness.
As for Christians,
the righteousness of the Pharisees
will get you nowhere...
squared.
Stick around. Look around.
See the Cross on the steeple.
Feel the love God gave to all
people.
Listen up!
The secret of life
Is LOVE,
pure, simple,
giving to give, caring to care,
helping each other to get there,
A little more selfless,
Love.
That’s an order, Bucko.
It will be a little bit better
A little bit brighter than before.
Love.
Don’t leave home without it.
But the love you get tomorrow
can only be achieved
By the love you give ...
Today.
Love

today.
Agape, selfless,
giving the best you can,
